County Tales Review

Published by Fishcake Publications

The County is ruled by Her Ladyship, overseer of all the galaxies and beyond, and inhabited by whimsical characters including the Faery Wizard Colin Halfbacksy, Dragon Luminosity Bleedoodle, Goblin Hoblydanclybit and Faery Persctly Twosups who falls in love with a tree. These and many others, thirty-one tales in all, make up the delight that is County Tales.

My Review:
4 stars
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I wasn't sure how to rate this book. On one hand, I did enjoy it and its uniqueness. However, the language was weird, and at times the story was very confusing. The stories were short and jumped around, though sometimes characters would appear in multiple stories. The names were crazy, (OneofaKind, Twurzle, Chiselmewood, etc.) and the author included the phonetic pronunciations (yep, some of them you couldn't understand without the phonetics). The story jumped around, not only character-wise, but also time-wise. One story would be about a baby, and then a few stories later, the baby was all grown up.

All that being said though, once you threw logic out the window and stopped thinking, this was a good book. It was nonsensical, whimsical, and entertaining. It was fun to read while sitting on the beach relaxing. Plus, I read it to several of my kids and they loved it. While adults may not like it much, I think this would be a good book for you and the kids to read together.

So all in all, this is a good book if you can get over the weird language and names, the jumping stories, and just enjoy each story as a separate look into this interesting world. I would recommend this book.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
