Birthday Bash Day 19 - Jade Buchanan

Jade, thanks so much for stopping by. So, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?
Hi Emily! Happy birthday month! Hmmm... Something about me? Well, I’ve been told I have a quirky sense of humor, I write whenever I can and I take very inappropriate pictures of GI Joes and assorted dolls...

How did you get started writing?

I was a reviewer for Joyfully Reviewed back in the day and I wrote a review for one of Jet Mykles books that made my editor ask me if I ever considered writing. I never thought I’d be good enough to do something like that so she practically dared me to try it. Her exact words were “if it sucks you don’t have to show anyone”.

So, I loved reading Black Wolf and Duck Fart, so when I heard you expanded them, I had to read the expanded versions. What made you decide to not only expand the books, but to also use them to start a series?
Thank you! I loved writing Black Wolf and Duck Fart the first time around. But, when the publisher they were originally with went under I knew I had a perfect opportunity to look at them again, change up the location and add in some new and exciting characters to really build the stories the way I hadn’t been able to do before. I’m so excited that people who loved the first versions also enjoyed the updated stories.

So not to be pushy, but is there going to be a book 3? If so, how far along are you on it?
There is going to be a book 3, Hedgehog’s Delight. It’ll be the story of Rick, the older brother that likes to control his family and ends up finding a mate that gives as good as he gets. It’s nearly finished, so I’m hoping it can come out sooner rather than later.

What’s the one genre you haven’t written in yet that you’d like to?
I’d love to write a really fabulous urban fantasy. It’s what I tend to read when I’m relaxing so it would be fun to play around in that genre. It just hasn’t happened yet.

So, what are you working on right now? Got any releases planned, or still writing?
I’m actually working on Hedgehog’s Delight and that’s my first priority for now. After that I have a few stories that want to come out!

Alright, one last question. Do you have a favorite memory from your 21st birthday?
Well, I’m a Canuck so 21st isn’t quite as exciting for us, but I remember when I turned 18 (the legal age here in Alberta) and since I was the first of my friends to become legal I went out with my older sister and a bunch of her friends. They treated me like a rock star for my birthday month and my favorite memory might be getting to go up on stage at the male strippers and getting to take the strippers drawers off ;)

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!
Thank you!! I appreciate it, and hope you have a great birthday! And now for a little bit more information about Black Wolf and Duck Fart. These two stories belong to the Wolf Creek series set on Vancouver Island in Canada. It’s about a close-knit family of werewolves, humans and miscellaneous shifters, including some tabbies, ducks, Siamese cats and now a hedgehog.

Black Wolf
Wolf Creek 1
Adam Bates is in trouble. He’s virtually penniless, is being threatened by his landlord, and now he’s late for work at his new job. Expecting to be chastened by his boss, Adam doesn’t expect to be provided with a protector instead. He definitely doesn’t expect his minder to be a big, bad wolf with attitude.

Marcus Black has just arrived back home, but he won’t refuse his brother when he asks him to help a little tabby cat. When Adam is threatened by his landlord in front of Marcus, his alpha wolf won’t let him stand by and let it happen.

Adam is about to find strength in submission, and his own set of claws. Marcus is about to find the mate he’s been searching for in a deceptively small tabby. Let the games begin…

Excerpt:
Adam scratched his belly, noticing a flick of blood on his thigh he’d missed when he’d groomed himself before. Drats. Rounding his spine, thankful for his tabby heritage that made him way more flexible than the average person, Adam licked his thigh just above his knee. He’d gone to a yoga class once with his youngest sister, and the instructor constantly had to chastise him for overextending every pose. He just couldn’t help it. Raising the leg higher, he cocked his hip, reaching with his tongue for another spot on the inside of his thigh.

“Fuck me…” The words were low and drawn out, pained.

Adam froze, not moving a single muscle. He’d been so caught up in what he was doing he hadn’t even realized the door to the bathroom had opened. Shifting his gaze, Adam looked over at Marcus, embarrassed beyond anything he’d ever felt, that Marcus had caught him almost licking his balls. Hell, he was just about to go to town with his licking there. Trying for nonchalance, he lowered his leg, raising his hand to scratch his ear.

“N-nice shower?” He could barely get the words out of his suddenly dry mouth.

Marcus had one of Adam’s small white towels slung around his hips. The things were nearly threadbare, and he really should have bought new ones, but right now he was glad he hadn’t. The thin cotton was molded to Marcus’ damp body, highlighting the muscles that were now tensed. His legs were long, and his calves were shapely enough to have Adam purring. He was a sucker for long legs on a guy. Marcus had a nice body, period, not an ounce of fat anywhere on him.

Marcus growled, the sound vibrating through the room. It wasn’t anything a human throat should be able to produce. It made the little hairs on his body stand at attention and he shivered.

Striding across the room, Marcus was suddenly in front of him. His large hands came up, pushing Adam to his back on the bed. “Let me help you with that.”
