Love's Last Bite BBT

Blurb:
Dark forces, a vampire, plus one sexy cop is a recipe for trouble.

VINCENT KAMATEROS is no longer the lonely exiled vampire running a cupcake shop, but the heir to his father’s throne.

JOHN REEDER is out and accepts his vampire lover, but he has to deal with his lover being destined to rule the vampire kingdom.

While Vince and John revel in their newfound love, dark forces are at work in Orbus Arcana, determined to keep the progressive Vince from becoming the next vampire king.

Time is short and decisions loom. Their irrevocable choices will change their lives forever.

Excerpt:
At the waters edge, gentle waves lapped over Vince's feet and circled his ankles before receding. His toes dug into the silky white sand. Vince took off his sunglasses and squinted into the distance looking for their vessel. The white sails of the 50-foot catamaran sailed toward the island. The yacht was identical to the one shown in the vacation brochure John kept in his office drawer. The boat was a real beauty with every convenience, including a Captain and cook.

Vince smiled as he remembered John’s excitement when Vince gave him the vacation for his birthday. Then his smile quickly faded. The approaching boat signaled time was running out. He chewed on his inner cheek. Dio. For all of his arrogance and pride, with John his courage failed.

Enough with the procrastination. He had promised John no secrets. It was time to confess.

“I have something I must tell you.”

John turned from where he was making wet footprints in the sand. He grinned and Vince’s stomach dropped. His news would surely wipe that smile off John’s face.

“I have to go back home.”

John grimaced. “Yeah, I know, but the rest did us both good. This has been great, all of it.”

Vince brought down the rim of his hat. Cowardly to shield his face but John would notice the worry in his eyes.

“I don’t mean Arizona,” Vince said. “I mean my home. Verno.”

John stopped scuffing his feet. “Oh, for how long?”

“My father wants to step down.”

An introvert and artist with a healthy dose of skepticism about life and love =Viki. An extrovert and academic and a die-hard romantic =Vina. It was so not a match made in heaven. But Viki and Vina discovered a mutual love of traveling around the world, the paranormal, good coffee, and a healthy admiration for their respective creativity. Sitting in a coffee shop one day, they started brainstorming about story plots and Vince and John and the car crash in the bakery. A story was born. Vina writes the sappy romance and Viki tempers it. Between them, they managed to find their boys a ‘happily ever after’.

Guest Post and Giveaway: Orbus Arcana Series by Viki Lyn and Vina Grey

Viki Lyn
Thank you for hosting me today.

Orbus Arcana is a vampire love story set during the present day. The story leans toward fantasy rather than paranormal because Vina and I have created a vampire world set in another dimension. This world has four political orders and the Jurisdictio—very much like our Supreme Court. Political intrigue is the norm (think English monarchy!) and there are vampires that would like nothing better than to see the end of ruling Kamateros family.

Vincent Kamateros is Lord Heir of the Order of Boreãs and next in line to be king. The story begins in book 1, For The Bite Of It, with Vincent exiled to the human world for a crime he never committed. Opening up a cupcake bakery in Tempe, Arizona, he’d planned to live a quiet life until the fateful day a car crashed through the bakery and in walked Detective John Reeder.

Vina Grey
Book 2, A Bite In Time, continues Vince and John’s romance. Vina and I introduced more of the vampire world and Vince’s special powers. John’s development continues as he’s coming to terms with his homosexuality and stepping out of the closet. The mystery plot is of a killer on the loose draining blood from his victims. The relationship tension is Vince having a difficult time hiding the fact he’s a vampire from John. Should he tell him, shouldn’t he tell him?

Currently, we are writing book 3, which will wrap up Vince and John’s love story. Somehow Vina and I must find a way to make their relationship work. It’s not easy. Vincent did the unthinkable when he fell in love with a human. And to further upset his father, the king, Vincent fell in love with a man. Homosexuality is tolerated in Orbus Arcana but not in the royal house.  And sheesh…poor John in love with a vampire. How would you handle that kind of news if you found out?

Book 3, Love’s Last Bite, begins with John and Vince vacationing on a tropical island. We have yet to come up with where exactly. I’d imagined somewhere in the Caribbean, but when I received the chapter edits back from Vina she had the island in the Pacific Ocean! Oops. But these surprises are what’s fun when writing with a partner.

We are a good team, each bringing something unique to the story. Vina is a die-hard romantic and reads tons of romance. I am more pragmatic, love murder mysteries, Japanese anime and yaoi. I also read romances, but strictly gay romance. This blend of us both is what makes the Orbus Arcana series such fun for us as writers, and we’re told for readers too!

A dangerous secret, a vampire, plus one sexy cop is a recipe for trouble.

JOHN REEDER has accepted his love for VINCENT KAMATEROS, but he doesn't know his lover is a vampire. When a killer targets Vincent, John has to deal with uncovered secrets that blow his life apart.

Will Vince reveal his true nature to protect the cop who has come to mean more than his own life? In doing so, he might ruin his only chance for a ‘happy ever after’ with John.

Excerpt from For the Bite of It:
Yet, thoughts of Vincent kept buzzing in his mind at the most inopportune times. He savored the memory of the taste of Vincent’s skin, and the heat generated from the tight clench of their bodies. Besides that tempting body, the intelligence sparkling in those lively eyes kept him interested. They both loved water, and he’d bet Vincent would take to sailing as if he’d done it all his life. Their amazing night together hinted of what it could be like in the future.
Fuck. He missed the bastard.
But it wasn’t the reason why he sped toward the bakery. No. He had to pick up the cupcakes for the party, and ask Vincent how he obtained information on him. John parked in front of the plate glass window. Not ready to face Vincent yet, he stayed in his car for a few moments.
Putting on his cop face, he pushed on the door meeting with resistance. Looking at his wristwatch, he cursed under his breath. Vincent had closed a few minutes ago. He rapped on the glass and thought back to the last time he’d been here. If only he could brush the misgivings and misunderstandings between them under the carpet. But that's not why he came here. He reminded himself again. For the cupcakes, and to ask Vincent about his vacation.
Vincent opened the door and didn’t say a word as he disappeared into the kitchen.
Okay, so he was getting the silent treatment.

A Bite in Time Blurb Blitz

Blurb:
A dangerous secret, a vampire, plus one sexy cop is a recipe for trouble.

JOHN REEDER has accepted his love for VINCENT KAMATEROS, but he doesn’t know his lover is a vampire. When aderanged vampire targets Vincent, John has to deal with uncovered secrets that blow his life apart.

Will Vincent reveal his true nature to protect the cop who has come to mean more than his own life? In doing so, he might ruin his only chance for a ‘happy ever after’ with John.

Excerpt:
“Euro for your thoughts?” Vincent teased as he kissed John’s neck.

“Maybe a dollar. At least I can spend it at home.” John touched Vincent’s face. “I wish we had another day, that’s all.”

Vincent kissed him and John’s cock nudged forward.

John pulled away. “We better get going. Shower first.”

“Good idea.” Vincent charming smile hinted of mischief.

Warmth spread across John’s chest. Shit. He was officially a sap reacting so easily to Vincent’s charm.

Biting his lip, he stood and pressed one hand on Vincent’s shoulder, stopping him from rising. “Alone.” How to explain the need to build back his defenses, so once they returned to Arizona, his relationship with Vincent existed, once again, in the privacy of their homes.

“We’re leaving in an hour,” John added, putting an end to fooling around.

Vincent leaned back on his elbows, his legs stretched out giving John an eye full of what he’d miss showering alone. John ran his hand across his scalp, ogling but not caring.

“More reason for me to shower with you,” Vincent said. “Once we’re home, you’ll stuff me back into the closet.”

The hairs on John’s nape stood as a flint of anger lit in him. Vincent read his thoughts and it was goddamn irritating. Then his shoulders slumped. Jesus. A big, bad cop scared of coming out. It had been a few months since he committed to making their relationship work. He was beginning to trust Vincent completely, and planned to make headway, but damn if he hated Vincent baiting him about coming out.

Didn’t Vincent get it? He didn’t like being pushed against the wall. And yet he had made a promise he would make the attempt. That he wouldn’t let his attitude come in the way of a relationship. To be fair, Vincent held back his impatience, most of the time.

“This has been great,” John waved his hand to take in the room. “But it’s a far cry from Arizona. Julie knows, and I’m going to tell Free, but I’m not ready to tell my peers or my parents.”

No matter how much he craved for an open relationship, once back in Arizona, he’d be Detective John Reeder, straight son of Irish Catholic parents. Sure he’d made slight progress, telling his sister he was gay. But from a simple thing like telling his sister who’d already guessed to coming out to his parents was a long fucking way. Yet, guilt overwhelmed John every time he pulled back from Vincent’s touch in public, the hurt in his lover’s eyes eating at him.

Vincent slipped on his robe, his good-natured teasing vanished. “John, when will you face who you are? A gay man with a boyfriend who loves you. I refuse to be treated as a shameful secret.”

Love? Did he say love? Oh fuck.

Formula For Love Blurb Blitz

Blurb:
Kenneth Hailey, an uptight conservative mathematician, believes he's in control. After all, every problem can be solved in a deliberate and logical manner. Even love. When his fiancée dumps him for his best friend, he leaves Manhattan for the West Coast. What better place to forget his past. It's 1967, and San Francisco is the place to turn on, tune in, and drop out.

But is he ready for Rose Red?

Rose Red, a free-spirited flower child, challenges Kenneth, thrusting him into her world of love-ins, protest rallies, and rock concerts. Kenneth finds himself falling down a rabbit hole, hanging on for dear life.

Old habits die hard, and he retreats, but Rose Red has other plans for him.

Excerpt:
Rose patted his hand. “Forget it. You already said too much. You think girls don’t have the brains for math. We’re too emotional for such discipline. So do you want to sleep with me?”

Kenneth choked, and a spray of coffee spurted across the table, barely missing Rose. He wiped up the mess with his napkin, while muttering an apology. “I might be behind the times, but I like to be the one to invite the girl to bed.”

“If I waited for you to make the first move we’d never get past first base.”
“There’s the unwritten teacher-student rule.”

“You said our paths would never cross, so why worry about it? Do you always follow the rules? We can bend them a little. I’m not talking about a relationship here.”

“You’re talking about loving the one you’re with.” He smiled at himself for using her phrase. The sunlight broke through the window and Rose’s hair shone a burnished copper. Luscious, silky hair he’d like to touch again. “What do you mean by bend?”

“We can sleep together, and since we’re not looking for love, and we’re not each other’s type, and don’t want to—”

“—form any attachments.”

Rose sat back and crossed her arms. “Are you going to let me finish my sentence?”

Kenneth sank in his chair, uncomfortable with the conversation, but riveted.

“Yes, since we don’t want any attachments,” she continued, “it would be ideal. What do you say?”

He scratched his chin. “So I’m going to love the one I’m with after all? I don’t know.”

Rose waved off Kenneth’s worried expression. “Sex can be fantastic, and I’m horny, been without it—”

“—for a day?”
