To Entice an Earl VBT

Blurb:
Miss Alexandra Farris lost her heart to her older brother's friend, Lord Maxon Collins, long, long ago. Despite her girlhood attempts to win him, he never noticed her. Now that her first season is underway, she understands why. He prefers willowy blondes, not curvaceous maidens with darker coloring like herself. Rather than wallow in self-pity, she forgets love and focuses on something more attainable—an advantageous match.

Lord Collins is plagued by an uncomfortable feeling whenever he goes near Miss Farris. One of annoyance. And yet, he can’t seem to stop thinking of her, touching her, kissing her...He must act in her brother’s stead, which means he has to approve her suitor and ensure her safety. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to find a worthy gentleman.

Wedding her off should be a simple task, but not if he can’t let her go.

Excerpt:
“I have too given you compliments.”

“Really?” She exhaled. “Name one.”

He contemplated the matter for a moment and then said, “I told you your hair was prettier in disarray.”

She had forgotten that. “So you said one thing. Congratulations.”

“Thank you.” He swept an exaggerated bow and smirked up at her.

“That is not something to be proud of. Why, it’s not even that monumental a compliment.”

He straightened, and a light flared in his eyes. There had always been an easy mood between them, but he had never looked at her in such a way before. It was almost, well, sinful.

“Allow me to remedy my error, then.” He caught her hand in his, and gazed deep into her eyes. “Your eyes remind me of a summer storm.” Her gaze faltered from his, but he continued. “Your skin is as smooth as fine porcelain, and your hair is made of the most enticing curls I have ever seen. I can imagine your freed hair would make a man lose his senses. And lastly, you have deliciously kissable lips.”

She swallowed. His ridiculous, probably oft-used lines had the most amazing effect on her. Her knees had grown weak, and her mind was slow to focus. “I-I d-don’t think…” Her voice trailed off as he chuckled.

“With that said, you also possess a tremendous ability to irritate me beyond comprehension.”

Naomi, thanks so much for stopping by. Tell us a little about yourself.
I would love to! I won’t go into too much detail cause I don’t want to bore people needlessly. So, here’s some highlights:
     -From South Dakota
-Served six years in the South Dakota Air National Guard
-Married to a retired Army man
-Have a toddler named Wyatt and a seventeen-year-old step-daughter who recently moved in
-Lived in Germany and Kansas, now back in my home state of South Dakota
-Have a bachelor’s degree and associates degree
-Works part-time at a gas station

That’s about it. Oh, yeah, I also write historical romance novels because it’s about the most fun (legally) a girl can have.

How did you get started writing?
I needed a hobby so I started plotting a story. As an avid reader, I figured it would be easy. It wasn’t. About 10,000 words into my first novel, I thought about quitting but refused to give up. Eventually, I reached the end of my story and realized that I loved writing too much to ever stop. I fear there’s no going back for me.

What was the inspiration for your book?
My hero and heroine were side characters from a previous novel. I’ve always loved the friends to lovers trope and couldn’t resist writing one of my own.

What’s a genre you haven’t written in yet that you’d like to?
There’s a couple I toy around with the idea of. Contemporary romance, and historical romance set in my home state of South Dakota. Maybe some day when I need a break from Regency romances… we shall see.

Are there any genres you won’t read or write in? Why?
I could never write a horror novel. I think I would sound cheesy instead of suspenseful and it would be a giant waste of time. I will read most anything romance. The other stuff? Not so much.

What are you up to now? Do you have any releases planned, or are you still writing?
I am still writing my fourth novel. I started it forever ago, and then got a bit of writer’s block. I will finish it soon, and then I will move on to the next series.

Alright, now for some random, fun questions. Favorite color?
Purple!

Favorite movie?
You’ve Got Mail

Book that inspired you to become an author?
Never Trust a Rake by Annie Burrows

You have one superpower. What is it?
I’d really like Storm’s superpowers from X-men. I love temperamental weather and would have so much fun controlling it.

You can have dinner with any 3 people, dead, alive, fictitious, etc. Who are they?
Some of my long-dead relatives for two reasons: To ask about South Dakota back in the mid to late 1800’s and to find out more about them. Ancestry fascinates me.

Last question: Which of your characters are you most like and how/why?
I’m most like Alexa. She struggles with certain insecurities that I can relate to. Conscientiousness about her weight, her hair, believing she is not desirable. She puts on a bold front and hides it well, but internally she’s… human.

Author Bio and Links:
Naomi Boom never expected to love writing. Her inspiration struck while searching for the perfect historical romance novel to read. Nothing sounded appealing, so she decided to write her own. That one novel has morphed into a series, and hopefully many, many more.

She resides in her home state of South Dakota with her husband and toddler. Her dream is to someday find an acreage where she can raise chickens and, naturally, continue her writing.
