Excerpt:
Aria
gasped. “Are you saying that either Caleb, Jason, or Stan might have picked it
up?”
“Yes.
It makes more sense than to think you did it.”
Aria
opened another cola for herself. “Oh, Lila, I don’t think so.”
“Why?
Because you don’t want it to be true? I don’t either, but I think it is.”
“Lila…”
What could she say? If Lila was right, smart money would be on Caleb as the
thief, and that couldn’t be true. It couldn’t!
She
got up and put her lab coat back on. “Forget it. I was distracted that night
and half out of my mind with rage. There was a lot of dirty gauze and empty
boxes around. I picked it up and threw it away by mistake. None of the guys did
it.”
Lila
tossed the remains of her lunch into the trashcan. “Be careful, Aria. Do you
think I’m blind? I see the look on your face when you’re around Caleb. You’re
falling for him. Have you admitted it to yourself yet? You’re taking the blame
for the painkiller because you don’t want it to be Caleb. If it was only Jason
or Stan you’d be chomping at the bit to check it out.”
