Holiday Party - Festivus

So, we’ve had several mentions of December holidays so far (Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, etc.). But what if you don’t celebrate one of these holidays? Well, today’s the day for you because today is Festivus. What is Festivus you ask? Well, it’s a non-denominational holiday first mentioned on Seinfeld in 1997 (Kramer celebrated it). It has since become a well-celebrated holiday (don’t believe me? Just Google it).

So what does one do on Festivus?
Well, instead of a Christmas tree, the symbol of Festivus is an unadorned aluminum pipe. Also, while one might have a Christmas ham for dinner, the recommended Festivus feast is meatloaf.

Looking for a holiday game? Try “Feats of Strength”, and then later, an “Airing of Grievances” where you can tell someone how disappointed you are over what they did or did not do during the year.

So check it out and have some Festivus fun (and don't forget to enter the grand prize giveaway while you're at it). After all, it’s “A Festivus for the rest of us!”

  1. I use to watch Seinfeld but I think I was too young to appreciate it. I don't remember Festivus being mentioned and I think I might have to look up the video. Interesting post, thank you =)

  4. I am a huge Seinfeld fan, and know all about Festivus but I honestly had no idea that people actually celebrated it. I thought it was just Kramer's holiday. It is so interesting the things that we learn and inject into our personal lives through watching television!
