Extinct NBtM

Blurb:
Theo’s sole purpose for the last ninety-eight years was to protect his wolf. That changed the moment he met Drew and the wolf called ‘Mate’.

Carrying the soul of an extinct wolf alongside your own isn’t easy. Swapping into said wolf is even harder. Ask Theo Grey—he’s been doing it for ninety-eight years. Yet, after surviving two world wars, witnessing the space race and patiently enduring the eighties, you’d think he’d have seen it all, but nothing could have prepared him for meeting Tofino’s new vet, Drew O’Bannion and according to the wolf, his mate.

Drew loves her dog, sleeping in and coffee. She also loves being a vet. The main reason behind her accepting the veterinarian practice offered to her from a family friend. Hoping for a slower pace at life Tofino seemed the ideal spot. What she didn’t expect was Officer Theo Grey. Theo is tall, dark and drop dead gorgeous, a definite 10 on the ‘wow’ scale. Regardless of his looks, there is more to Theo, there is her unexpected attraction for him. It’s unnerving and completely out of character for her, but she is able to match Theo’s hungry kiss, for hungry kiss.

With their desire growing at an alarming rate and the threat of an unknown shooter roaming the woods of the coastal town, Theo must face the ultimate decision—let Drew go for her own safety or claim his mate for all time.

Reader Advisory: This story contains scenes of violence and threats of non-consensual sex

Excerpt:
Going on a weekend getaway was what real life couples did. She hadn’t even spent an entire night with him and despite what she secretly wanted he was always gone in the morning. What if he didn’t like what he saw when he woke up?

Holy shit!

Her heart pounded, which in turn caused her to breathe faster.

“Drew?” Connie asked. “You okay?”

“Yeah, fine.” She turned to her office, on the verge of hyperventilating. Damn it, she was going to turn into one of her friends.

“Liar,” Connie said from behind her. “What’s wrong? Are you that nervous about being alone with Theo?”

Drew spun to face her friend and threw her arms up into the air. “I’m not a morning person, Connie, and I just don’t think I have it in me to get up before him so I can fix my makeup.”

“Wait, what?” Connie asked.

“I’m going to turn into my friends. They get up before their dates and reapply their makeup so they look good the next morning.”

“That’s what you’re worried about?” Connie burst out laughing. “You’re worried about a makeup hangover?”

“Yes!” Drew jammed her hands on her hips. “What if he doesn’t like—?”

Me. She whispered the word in her head for fear that she would shout it out loud. What if he doesn’t like the real me?

“Whoa.” Connie smiled. “Theo is in serious ‘like’ with you, he’s not going to care about your makeup. I thought you two already had sex?”

“We have.” Drew crossed her arms as her cheeks flushed.

“Then what did you do the last time?”

Drew shrugged. “My makeup was already off and he never stays over.”

“Then there you go. Take it off and let him see that beautiful skin. As for not being a morning person, that will change. Waking up next to a man is sweaty fun, trust me.”

Connie wiggled her eyebrows before sauntering over to her desk. “Besides,” she called out, “there are a lot of other things you should worry about.”

“Like?”

“You could always fart in your sleep.”

Groaning, Drew covered her face.

Hi everyone, now please welcome back Nancy Adams! This is her 2nd time on my blog, and since I’ve already interviewed you once Nancy, I decided to pick some new questions for you. Are you ready?
Hi again!

Yup! I’m ready. Hit it!

The big question: Do you prefer ebooks or paperbacks?
Oh boy! How to answer...if I say paperback, the ebook groupies will think I’m a snob and if I say ebooks, the paperback crowd will call me traitor.

So I think I’ll just be political correct and go with BOTH. LOL Actually there are pros and cons to both. I love the feel of the paper and the smell of the ink and there is something thrilling about have my name and a story I created in print. But paperback are bulky and take up lots of room. Ebooks however are slim and easy to carry and you have hundreds of books with at any given time plus you can access millions more all without leaving your home.

How do you come up with your covers? Do you design them yourself, or do you have a designer?
My covers are designed for me. Totally Bound has a brilliant group of artists working in their art department. They take the Author’s visions and turn into beautiful covers.

What 5 words would you use to describe your main characters?
Theo – domineering, protective, hardened, lonely, warrior
Drew – impulsive, insecure, compassionate, hardworking, sarcastic
Wolf – feral, curious, fearless, wise, loyal

So, where are you on your writing list right now? Any new releases coming out, new projects in the works?
I’m working on three different stories right now.

A follow up to my Time-travel romance No Matter When, a futuristic sci-fi romance, and another paranormal romance. Yikes...even when I type it out it sound crazy working on all three at once.

Alright, we are now entering the rapid fire round, so first thing to cross your mind. Ready...go!

Vampire or Werewolf (or other)? Werewolf...of course!
Ghosts, Real or Myth? Real...SO FREAKING REAL!!!
Twilight, Cool or Ick? I like Jacob...that’s it.
For the inner foodie...Dark or Milk Chocolate? MILK
Sit Down Dinner or Fast Food? Sit down every night 5:30 SHARP!
Eat In or Eat Out? Eat out... Is it bad that I just giggled?
Cook or Clean Up? Neither, I hate both.

And now for the sexy...Handcuffs or Blindfolds? Oh my blindfold please.
Leather or Lace?  Lace
Kinky or Vanilla Sex? A little of column A & a little of column B

I enjoy watching hockey, but despise skating...and the cold.  I enjoy a good helping of Tourtiere with a side of Poutine as must as the next person, yet I am only bilingual when it comes to swear words.  I am proud to say I survived my token shot of Newfie Screech, although I did refuse to kiss the Cod - that is never going to happen - and I openly admit, that I fell in love with the Rocky Mountains the first time I saw them.

I have many occupations written down in my passport, mom, wife, author...zookeeper!  However, I have to say that writing is by far the easiest part of my day.

I have three small -but legal- addictions: bed lines, lavender, and books.  All of which, are replenished on a regular basis.  Reading into the wee hours of the morning, is one of many bad habits, next to spontaneously rearranging furniture and randomly painting rooms in my house.

No Matter When VBT

Blurb:
Standing on the battlements of a 16th century Keep was the last place Gabriel Sutherland should be. Then again, being ‘shifted’ to 1503 seconds before a rocket blew his ass to bits wasn’t something he had envisioned either. Still, he was surviving the only way he knew how, as a soldier. Then Lilly arrived. Sweet, innocent Lilly. For a genetically superior soldier whose life had entailed of nothing but serving King and country, the arrival of Lilly proves too much for Gabe to ignore. For the first time in his life, Gabe can have a woman of his own and Lilly is the one.

Lilly Marten lives alone, her quiet life the result of a highly sensitive photographic memory. That changed when she arrived in the year 1503 seconds before Toronto’s popular C.N Tower came crashing down on top of her. Now she was never alone. Gabe was always near. With his unbelievably perfect features and intense green eyes, he is not a man easily ignored. Yet, uncertainty about her new life leaves Lilly with no choice but to put faith in a man she fears and whose strong physical presence causes her to desire more than just his trust.

Excerpt:
She took a sip of the tea—her head was beginning to throb again with the mere idea of being back in the past. If this was really…real, she had hundreds of other questions.

She blinked, her vision clearing. “Now that I know the where and when, I’ll ask about the how. How did I get here?”

Gabe’s golden eyebrows pushed together. He clasped his hands together, sighing. “I can tell you how you got here in general terms, but not the mechanics of it. I don’t fully understand how he’s able to do it.”

Lilly took in the details of his handsome face and knew from his intense stare that not a single detail would slip past him, that he was aware of everything that surrounded him.

“You were brought here by a Time Shifting Interval System.”

“What’s a Time Shifting Interval System?”

“Basically, it’s a fancy name for a time machine. You felt the wind, didn’t you? The mini twister?”

She sat up straighter, her eyes widening. “Yeah!”

He nodded. “That’s the TSIS. From what I understand, it produces the whirlwind. It’s that whirlwind that tracks and locates a target—in this case, you. Once you’re inside, it locks you into place so you can’t slip out of it, then pulls you from one time to another.”

“So that was why I couldn’t get away from it. Every time I moved, it followed me.”

He nodded. “I was told it locks you in place to read your genetic structure, so it can put you back together in the right order at your destination point.” He paused, then cocked his head a little to the side. “It took you while you were at work?”

She took another sip of tea and swallowed. “I had just gotten there and was talking to my frie—To my manager,” she corrected herself. Looking into the cup, she remembered the overwhelming feeling she’d had as Stacey left. Had it been coincidence, or part of this time shifting thing?

Where do ideas come from?

For me ideas come in many forms. From sitting on the beach in Dominican Republic, drinking Pina Coladas to a Beware of the Wolves sign on Vancouver Island in British Colombia to yes…vacuuming.

Ideas can come from anywhere and anything. And the three examples above happened to me. Seriously…true story!

No Matter When was sparked from drinking to many Pina Coladas and my next book, Extinct, due out February/March 2014 came to me after walking through a forest that had a sign warning about wolves in the area. And just the other day while I was vacuuming my upstairs I had the best idea for a contemporary romance. I was simply pushing my Dyson around my room admiring my nice clean carpet and BAM!  A whole story idea popped into my head. Crazy right! Personally, I think my inspiration came from my Dyson. I just love that thing!

So you see, anything can spark an idea. Although, I do have to say I get a lot of ideas for scenes on a WIP while I’m in the shower.  I was laughing with my husband about that a couple of weeks ago and we figured out it was because I was alone and didn’t have a 10 year-old distraction or his 8 year-old sidekick disrupting my thoughts. I finally get to relax and then the ideas begin to flow.

I also get a lot of ideas in bed at night. Again, I’m totally relaxed because the distractions are in bed, the house is nice and quiet, and while I’m waiting for the sandman, I continue my writing withour actually typing anything down. I just think about what will happen next.  Will there be some action, some romance, who will say what, who kisses who, I run through ideas in my head and write down the ideas the next day.

Of course having watched a gorgeous inspiration in a movie *cough* Bradley Cooper *cough* helps those ideas progress nicely. But I’ve been lucky so far and though there is a bit of tweaking needed here and there the ideas have always worked out.

Thank you for that Mr. Cooper. Lol

Cheers,
Nancy

The Bannockburn Spell VBT

Blurb:
With the help of a bet, an eight-hundred-year-old marriage contract, and a spell, ex-SBS soldier Will might just have enough in his arsenal to capture Meghan’s heart.

Since arriving in Little Glen, Scotland, Meghan Kennedy’s life has got decidedly more interesting. She enters into a bet with hunky ex-SBS soldier, William MacKenzie, discovers an ancient marriage contract and to top it all off, she learns that she had a spell cast on her…eight hundred years before she was even born. None of it matters, because she refuses to make the same mistake twice. Will’s hard body and sexy grin don’t matter, his beautiful hypnotic eyes don’t matter, and it doesn’t matter that every time they kiss her body calls out for his, as though denied of his touch for hundreds of years.

Ex-SBS soldier William MacKenzie is disciplined, trained to be an efficient soldier and he takes the same approach with his life as he does his business. Then Meghan arrives, with her fiery temper and hair to match, all he can think about is Meghan. Her feisty temper bemuses him, her beauty astounds him and her stubbornness annoys the hell out of him. Lucky for him, he doesn’t know how to quit, he can be just as stubborn and occasionally ruthless, and he will use any means necessary to get her. Of course the ‘means’ at his disposal just happen to be a bet, a marriage contract and an ancient spell, but if in the end Meghan belongs to him, who is he to argue?

Excerpt:
“That’s right, you like to gamble, then how about a little wager?”

“A bet?” She narrowed her eyes. “What kind of bet?”

He crossed his arms. “I bet that you fall in love with me.”

“Yeah,” she snorted. “Like that’s going to happen.”

“Well, then this should be easy for you.”

She clicked her tongue.

“Not scared, are you?” He gave her pride a nudge.

She mimicked his stance. “What are the stakes?”

He smothered a smile. “If you win, you’re free from the contract. But if I win…” He lowered his head until they were nose to nose. “I get you.”

Will saw the doubt cross her face then decided to give her pride another poke, just enough to get what he wanted. “Think you can win?” Straightening to his full height, he held out his hand to her.

She eyed his hand suspiciously, then slid her smaller hand into his. “You bet I can.”

He held fast as she tried to pull back, running his thumb over the back of her hand.

“Good.” He drew in her lavender scent. “You’ll forgive me if I don’t wish you luck. I don’t want you to win.”

Meghan’s mouth dropped open in shock and she snatched her hand away. “You’re an asshole.”

Will grinned. “I have my moments.”

Once again Hamish handed her another shot of whisky, she took it without so much as a thanks and again downed it as she had with the first. She swallowed the second shot hard and swayed slightly. Shoving the glass into Will’s chest, she waved the printed pages in his face…again. “I’m taking these.”

Will sighed, holding onto his patience at her last act of rebellion before leaving. Leaving! An unexpected annoyance filled him. He didn’t want her to go anywhere, he wanted her here, with him. As she turned, her hair flew over her shoulder and before he could stop himself he reached out, grabbing a handful of her flaming hair, stopping her. Stepping up behind her, he toyed with the silky strands. “Going home?” he asked softly.

“That’s none of your business.”

She was right, it was none of his business and he didn’t push her about it, but he needed to know. He squeezed his jaw. “Time’s up, Meghan, I’m done waiting.”

Nancy, thanks so much for stopping by.
My pleasure.

So, why don’t you tell us a little about yourself?
Of course! Well, I’m a mum, a wife and a crazy Canuck (but only when the moon is full). I have two very large furry sidekicks who show their love by shedding all over my black yoga pants… and let me tell you it is a whole lot of love. I spend my free time – if there is such a thing – with writing, reading, or replenishing my stocks of lavender and bed linens. Oh yeah…I also have a serious addiction to cookies...Chocolate chip…but don’t worry I’m getting help.

How did you get started writing?
It all began with a bad case of insomnia. I started getting bouts of it back in high school, and as I did back then, I invented a story in my head and would play it through until I would fall asleep. However, this particular time I liked the story so much, I got up in the middle of the night and typed out an outline for The Bannockburn Spell. I didn’t really have any idea where to go from there, so the next day I began looking for writing classes. The rest is history.

What’s the one genre you haven’t written in yet that you’d like to?
That’s a tuff one. I would like to write in all of them, but my next goal is for an Angel/Demon erotic romance.

Are there any genres you won’t read or write in? Why?
I don’t like reading fiction books where there is the abuse or murder of children or animals and I would certainly never write about it. Other than that, I like most genres, although I’m happiest when there is romance somewhere tied into the story.

So, what are you working on right now?
My current WIP is book 2 of my Out of Time series. It a time travel/historical/futuristic erotic romance. I haven’t come up with a name yet but it will probably following along the lines as book 1 No Matter When.

Got any releases planned, or still writing?
Yes I do have a new release coming out.  Extinct is a contemporary/shifter erotic romance. It’s due out in February 2014 for pre-release and March ’14 general release

Alright, now for some totally random, fun questions. Favorite color?     Blue
Favorite movie?   Tie between Timeline and McLintock
Book that inspired you to become an author?     This might seem strange, but I don’t actually have one.
Alright, you have one superpower. What is it?    Reading peoples emotions.
You can have dinner with any 3 people, dead, alive, fictitious, etc. Who are they?
Oh that is a great question. I would have to say Queen Elizabeth I, Rita Hayworth, and Katherine O’Hara.  My three favourite redheads.

Last question: Which of your characters are you most like and how/why?
Probably Meghan from The Bannockburn Spell. We both have long red hair, we both run, we’re both from Toronto, we both dig military guys and we both love dogs, but that is were it ends. I don’t have a nut-job of a ex-boyfriend stalking me and I certainly haven’t had a spell cast on me. Although, now that I think about we both have that crazy Scottish blood running through our veins except mine has been thinned out by crazy English blood. LOL

That’s all from me, thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!
Thank you for having me!
Cheers
